I’m A Celebrity 2021 star Dame Arlene Phillips has admitted she’s ‘concerned’ about being the oldest campmate, not just in this series, but of all time.
At the age of 78, she has beaten Harry Redknapp, who was 72 when he appeared on (and won) the show in 2018.
Chatting to Metro.co.uk and other press, Dame Arlene said: ‘Obviously I’m concerned.
‘Everything in your body changes as you get older. But in terms of being the oldest, I think I’ve always been the oldest. When I was 36 and I had my first baby, it was shock, horror, this geriatric mother having a baby.
‘And then my second one at 47. “Are you sure? Having a baby at 47?” I feel like I’ve always been the oldest at doing something, so it’s nothing really to me.’
Arlene added that she’s excited for people to learn more about her in the castle, and is keen to teach everyone how to dance.

‘I’m hoping that I can use some of my dance experience to just have some fun in the castle,’ she pointed out. ‘What people don’t realise is that everybody can dance and everybody can almost create their own dance, so I just hope we find some time because dance can keep you warm if it’s very cold.
‘It’s going to be hilarious because the boots you have to wear in the castle are not dance friendly!’

We’re sure Dame Arlene will find her way round that obstacle!
As for what she’s most worried about with the experience, Dame Arlene’s got plenty of fears.

‘I don’t think there’s anything I’m not worried about but I do hope that I find a sense of calm and a centre to be able to just deal with whatever comes my way,’ she reflected.
Clearly she’s been taking some lessons from Jordan ‘Happy Place’ North – and we can’t blame her in the slightest.
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here begins Sunday at 9pm on ITV.
